Today marked the end of another perfect weekend on Dale Hollow for me...water temp in the low 50's, a 9 foot rod in my garlic fish dope covered hand, and a handful of battles with some Smallmouth Bass that a lot of people around the world would love to feel a tug from (pictured left :). But what's ironic is that I saw some fish weighed in at the Smalljaw ( http://www.Smalljaw.com) tournament this weekend that I would love to feel a tug from. I think I'm getting closer to that day though because we really wore them out over the last few days. Some of the most dedicated Smallmouth Bass fishermen you'll find attended this weekend's event, and it was apparent by the quality of fish weighed in. I'm proud to say that my first Dale Hollow tournament as a participant was at this one as well. Andrew Robertson is a good friend of ours and we're excited about working closer with him & Smalljaw in 2010. View more pics or our fish by clicking here...I would like to thank a couple of our sponsors for providing us with boats that we used to pre-fish with and get some amazing pics & video (video will be posted soon) and as usual their amazing hospitality:
Tournament ResultsSource: Smalljaw.comBy Andrew Robertson "I would like to start by saying Thank You to all that make this event possible. Thanks to Greg, Keith, Sonny, Brandon and Mitch for all your help. You guys worked your tails off. Congratulations to all the winners of this event. This year was a huge success. We had 42 total boats in this event and a total of 63 fish brought to the scales. It was a close race to the end and the door was left wide open after day 1. The best part about this event is that every fisherman that gets in their boat every morning is on the same playing field with the slot limit. Everyone caught fish, but its the lucky ones that catch the right fish. I heard a lot say they lost the big one this weekend, I have been there lots of times myself. The dinner was a blast and thanks to our great sponsors we had lots of great things to give away. I already can't wait till next year... Congratulations to our winners Team Gottschalk/Canterbury with a Big fish Day 2 that was worth $700 and a 1st place finish with a total weight of 12.52 lbs and was good for $1,050. 2nd place was a close race with a first year team of Hawks/Botts that took home $5.25 for a total weight of 10.58 lbs. 3rd place was won by Team Arms/Arms with a total weight of 9.78 lbs that paid out $310 and $700 for thier nice big fish on Day 1." First Hayes Open bass tourney taken with huge bag weighing in at nearly 30 pounds By THOMAS P. WEAVER
CELINA-A good field of participants took to the water here at Pleasant Grove Recreation Area the first weekend of the month for two days of fishing during the First Annual Hayes Open, and the anglers didn’t disappoint when it came weigh-in time.
The tournament, recently renamed in honor of well-known local fallen angler James “Cobby” Hayes, was for the past five years formally known as the Dale Hollow Sportsman’s CITGO Harris Oil Fishing Tournament.
The name change was apparently good for fishing, because the top four finishers produced two-day totals exceeding the 20-pound mark, with the champions’ sack pushing nearly 30 pounds.

Big bags & pretty weather made for a great weekend of fishing for the 1st annual event hosted by DHF
When it was all said and done, it would've taken more than 38lbs. to top the duo of Adam Wagner (Cookeville, TN), who's been on fire winning two BFL events this year, and Jamey Wade (Bloomington Springs, TN), the team's co-angler. Not only did they weigh in 10 fish at nearly 4lbs. each, but they took home the Harris Oil Big Largemouth prize both days with a 5.23 lb Largemouth on Saturday and a 5.10 Largemouth on Sunday, bringing their total winnings to $2,000 for the weekend.
For their first Dale Hollow visit, Matt Hobson & Tabitha Donaldson of Nashville, Indiana took home the Punisher Lures Big Smallmouth prize on day 1 with a 2.06 under and grabbed $250 early. On Sunday, the winner of the $250 Big Smallmouth, sponsored by Darren Shell and his new book "The Big Ones", was Michael & Jason Stockton of Byrdstown, TN with a 2.41 under. It wasn't much of a surprise to anyone that unders won the two bonuses considering they're mostly locked on the bed this time of year.
It was a tight race after the first day, with 5 teams weighing over 15 lbs. of fish, and 7 teams within 3 lbs. of each other. Overall 40% of the participants hit their 5 fish limit on Saturday, and over 50% limited out on Sunday.

Garrison and Scott use 5-fish limit to win Kevin Watson Memorial bass tournament; event raises over $2,000 for family
Story by:
CELINA-Nearly 50 anglers arrived here at Horse Creek Resort early last Saturday morning to honor a fallen friend and show their support to the family by taking part in the Kevin Watson Memorial Bass Tournament.
The 41-year-old Watson lost a long battle with cancer earlier this month, leaving behind his wife and three young daughters. The event was organized by Watson's close friends to help ease some of the financial burden the loss placed on the family.
Through entry fees and other donations from local businesses and residents, the event raised over $2,000 for the Watson family.
Leon Watson, the father of the honoree, was on hand to accept the donation and he expressed his overwhelming gratitude to all who participated and to those who helped make the event happen.
