We decided to do a complete re-designed on DaleHollowFishing.com for several good reasons:
1. A cleaner, simpler, & more user-friendly site was needed for our growing community.
2. New & improved features - including a nifty toolbar that appears at the bottom of your screen no matter where you are on our site. There's a bunch of icons that link to the most popular sections of the site, and one that deserves it's own number...
3. Chat - that's right, you can now chat facebook style right on DHF with your fishing buddies. Forget checking messages all the time, and just in case you wanted to chat in a group, there's a chatroom button on the toolbar as well!
4. Weather - the all new weather station gives an in depth look at the current conditions at the lake, and in the very near future with the help of Willow Grove Marina we will have real-time water temperature displaying at all times so you'll always know what it's at, 24/7!
5. Multimedia - we've added a whole new Photo & Video gallery to the site where you can upload photos & video, comment on them, rate them, and share them with anyone.
6. Instructional Videos - the Instructional Videos category is a series of tutorials that we put together that show you how to interact with DHF and use the features available to you on the site. We will be adding more soon so be sure to check them to make the most out of your DHF experience.
The stuff we've done (and haven't) with our fishing reports deserves it's own section. Let's get the bad out of the way first - we've definitely slacked on our reports and we apologize to all of our members because we know how important they are to you. That's all changing now, and as a way of saying " We're sorry :( " I pulled an all nighter to add one more feature that may be the best yet...
You're on the lake..you just boated a hog, and you've got no one to brag to...until now. We've added a new report section called DHF Member Reports - real-time fishing reports & photos submitted by you, our members, via your cell phone...directly from the lake. How cool is that? There's nothing to set up, nothing to join. As long as you can send a text message, you can submit a report and photo anytime you're on the lake and it will appear instantly in the Members Reports section as well as our new Dale Hollow Lake Fishing Reports fanpage on Facebook!
Follow two simple instructions and you'll be submitting reports and photos from the lake in minutes. Log in to DaleHollowFishing.com and look for the instructions link in the top right of any page.
If you use Facebook don't forget to become a fan and suggest the page to your friends! More friends and DHF members means better and more frequent reports!
We are also in the process of setting up and training several guides to add reports to a new Guide Report section that will be launching soon. When they get off the lake after a trip you'll get first hand knowledge from professionals who get paid to catch fish.
So even though our reports have been absent for a while, we like to look at it as a blessing in disguise. The extra time we've had to re-think how we could bring you the best fishing information more frequently will hopefully prove that to be true.
A lot of you have asked if we are going to have a 2nd Annual DHF Spring Classic - the answer is yes, we just don't have a date yet. The reason we don't have a date is because we are teaming up with Smalljaw.com and Punisher Lures and putting together a series of 5 or so tournaments, Smallmouth only, in which a Smallmouth Champ (not official name, still brainstorming) will be crowned - and probably have a nice payday.
We will keep you posted on the Tournament, as well as all of the other things we have planned & started for this year. Thanks for hanging in there with us. We're still very young, year and a half, and are learning how to make your experience with us and with Dale Hollow Lake more enjoyable!
