No matter how cafeful you are, a deeply embedded hook will often cause bleeding that will undoubtedly kill the fish. Here's a tip that might just save the fish - keep a soft drink on board that contains citric acid (Mountain Dew, Sprite, Mellow Yellow, 7UP, etc...). Pour the drink on the affected area. The acid will shrink the capillaries, reducing, and possibly eliminating the hemorrhage.

trail-teamIf this were the stock market then I could get busted for insider trading, but I'm so excited about this that I couldn't wait until tomorrow at the Hayes Invitational to let it out.  Dale Hollow Lake, arguably the best lake in the world to catch quality bronzebacks, will play host to a 6 tournament Smallmouth-only event next year that will crown a "Points Champion" based on a tournament point system.  It's going to be a team effort, made up of DaleHollowFishing.com, Smalljaw.com, and Punisher Lures/Dale Hollow 1 Stop.  All of the details are a little fuzzy right now as we're still in the early stages of planning, but I can tell you that it's going to be big, and we expect the payout to be too.

So far what I can tell you is that it's Smallmouth only (obviously!), there will be a small fee to register to be eligible (we've thrown around $10 per man per tournament), and we're looking at dates when most people would have time off to add three new tournaments.  The other three tournaments that make up the 6 tourney series are existing tournaments on the lake.  We will be updating you with more information as it's available, and I'm in the process of putting a site together that will serve as the official site for the series.  In the meantime, it would help us a great deal if you could go to the post in the forum dedicated to the series and let us know if you're interested in participating.
